You asked
Do you have numbers for crimes where the defendant claimed dyspraxia or other personal problems and that the victim was actually using the allegation for a specific purpose like domestic abuse in order to get council housing and if they pleaded innocent or guilty preferably by year and region?
We said
Thank you for your request.
We do not hold the information you have requested.
Our publications and data concern crime as it is experienced by victims, or as it is recorded by police. Our crime statistics do not contain information on claims made by defendants as part of criminal proceedings, including whether a defendant cited dyspraxia or other personal circumstances. We also do not hold the information requested on reasons for reporting a crime.
ONS does not generally hold data on criminal justice outcomes such as defendants' pleas. The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) is primarily responsible for statistics on offenders, prosecutions, convictions and sentences and may be better placed to advise whether information relating to pleas is available. The MoJ publishes criminal justice statistics quarterly and can be contacted at data.access@justice.gov.uk.
The Home Office is responsible for statistics based on police recorded crime and may be able to advise on information held within police systems. They can be contacted at CrimeandPoliceStats@homeoffice.gov.uk.
If you have any further questions about ONS crime statistics, please contact crimestatistics@ons.gov.uk.
