1. Crime Incident data

We publish police recorded crime data for headline offences by Community Safety Partnership area (which equates in the majority of instances to local authorities) in our Recorded crime data by Community Safety Partnership area dataset. This dataset contains the number of offences for the last two years, percentage change between these two time periods and rates per 1,000 population for the latest year.

The Home Office also publish these data as open data tables on their website in their Police recorded crime Community Safety Partnership open data tables, from year ending March 2016 to year ending June 2023. These data can be broken down to quarterly time periods and contain data back to 2019.

Police recorded crime data for England and Wales broken down by month can be found in Table A4b in our Crime in England and Wales: Appendix tables. We do not hold monthly data broken down at a lower geography, as these data are supplied to us from the Home Office (HO). HO therefore may be better placed to assist. They can be contacted at CrimeandPoliceStats@homeoffice.gov.uk

2. Factors affecting the community

We estimate income estimates for small areas using a model-based approach which combines administrative data with the Department for Work and Pensions' (DWP) Family Resources Survey (FRS). The following dataset, Income estimates for small areas, England and Wales - Office for National Statistics (ons.gov.uk), lists the mean modelled estimate and associated confidence interval of four different income measures for each of the 7,201 Medium Super Output Areas (MSOA) in England and Wales for the financial year ending 2020. It flags the (ITL1) Region and Local Authority alongside the MSOA, enabling you to identify those within Greater London.

We do not currently hold estimates of median household income for each of the London boroughs. If you have any further queries on household income for small areas, please contact Economic.Wellbeing@ons.gov.uk.

We also produce estimates that classify usual residents aged 16 years and over in England and Wales by their highest level of qualification using Census 2021 data. Unfortunately, we do not hold information on whether individuals are currently in university. Employment in local authorities, England and Wales is also available from Census 2021 data. If you have any further queries on census-based statistics, please contact Census.customerservices@ons.gov.uk. Please note that estimates based on Census 2021 may not align to other sources.

Estimates consistent with other published labour market data are available through NOMIS. NOMIS allows you to specify estimates from a range of geography variables. Each local authority in London can be specified and time series can be extracted for the variables of interest. If you have any further queries on labour market statistics, please contact Labour.Market@ons.gov.uk.

3. Demographic Data

Please see the following publication: Estimates of the population for the UK, England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Here you can find national and subnational mid-year population estimates by administrative area, age and sex (including components of population change, median age and population density).  You can filter the tables by Geography: London Borough.

There are editions/datasets for the following years:

  • Mid-2019: April 2019 local authority codes edition
  • Mid-2019: April 2020 local authority codes edition
  • Mid-2020
  • Mid-2021

The 2022 edition of these estimates will be released on 23 November 2023. You can find an update on plans for the publication of population and migration statistics on our website.

4. Police presence and resources data

Unfortunately, we do not hold data on police presence and resources data.

Detailed statistics on the police workforce are published by the Home Office for England and Wales via the following link: Police Workforce in England and Wales. If you have any queries about this information, the Home Office policing statistics team can be contacted at PolicingStatistics@homeoffice.gov.uk.
