In your response to FOI/2021/2669, you say this request will be actioned by September 2021. Please supply the total number of deaths that have occured within 28 days of having a COVID-19 vaccine, from the start of the vaccine rollout to November 2021 in England.
We said
Thank you for your enquiry regarding the release of COVID-19 deaths by vaccination status in England.
We published Deaths involving COVID-19 by vaccination status, England - Office for National Statistics which included data from January 2021 to 2 July 2021.
A follow up publication was released on 1 November 2021 to include data from January 2021 to 24 September 2021, accessible via the following link: Deaths involving COVID-19 by vaccination status, England - Office for National Statistics. We have another release including data up to 5 November 2021 provisionally scheduled for release on 22 December 2021.
We produced this analysis to show deaths that occurred within or exceeding 21 days of vaccination, as this is the timeframe whereby the vaccine is deemed most effective. We do not hold analysis showing deaths that have occurred within or exceeding 28 days of the COVID-19 vaccine. This would need to be created using complex linking of mortality records to vaccination records, which would require a high level of skill and judgement to produce. Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, Public Authorities are not obligated to create information in order to respond to requests.
