Thank you for your enquiry.

We are responsible for the production of mortality statistics and our information is taken from the death certificate.

Please see the following publication: Deaths involving COVID-19, England and Wales: deaths occurring in May 2020. This provides number of deaths registered each month in England and Wales, including deaths involving the coronavirus (COVID-19), by age, sex and region. This publication will also show all comorbidities and will be updated on 17 July 2020.

Unfortunately, weight characteristics are not recorded on the death certificate, and therefore we do not hold the information you have requested.

However, you may find the following information related to your request useful:

Unfortunately, ethnicity is not recorded on the death certificate, which is why ethnicity is not included in the table above.

However, we have undertaken as data linkage project with Census 2011, which provides COVID-19 deaths by ethnicity. This bulletin is available via the following link: Coronavirus (COVID-19) related deaths by ethnic group, England and Wales: 2 March 2020 to 15 May 2020.

For Socioeconomic information, our publication Deaths involving COVID-19 by local area and socioeconomic deprivation: deaths occurring between 1 March and 31 May 2020 will provide provisional counts of the number of deaths and age-standardised mortality rates involving the coronavirus (COVID-19) between 1 March and 31 May 2020 in England and Wales. Figures are provided by age, sex, geographies down to local authority level and deprivation indices.
