Thank you for your enquiry.

We do hold some of the analysis requested but our age ranges differ slightly from those asked for.

COVID-19 deaths by age

We hold analysis showing deaths involving COVID-19 by 5-year age group within the following publication: Deaths Registered Weekly in England and Wales. Please see the following tables, which provide these figures for 2020 and 2021.

Deaths from COVID-19 with comorbidities

We have published Pre-existing conditions of people who died due to COVID-19, England and Wales - Office for National Statistics which provides deaths from January 2020 to December 2020 by two age groups in the dataset in table 2. This is the latest data available.

England

Wales

Quarter 1 data for 2021 data is available in table 2 of the publication.

Notes:
  1. Based on non-neonatal deaths due to COVID-19; see the Definitions tab for information on our definition of COVID-19.
  2. Numbers exclude one record with ordering anomalies that affect judgement on whether condition pre-existed.
  3. Figures for England and Wales (combined) include deaths of non-residents. However, all other geographical breakdowns exclude deaths of non-residents and boundaries are based on the most up-to-date information available at time of publication.
  4. Figures are for deaths registered in quarter 1 (January to March) 2021. There is a delay between a death occurring and it being registered; for more information see our impact of registration delays bulletin. https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/birthsdeathsandmarriages/deaths/articles/impactofregistrationdelaysonmortalitystatisticsinenglandandwales/2019

COVID-19 deaths after receiving vaccination

You may be interested to know that we are working on analysis on all aspects of the relationship between COVID-19 vaccination and mortality. Once we have finalised these plans a publication date will be announced on our Release Calendar.

You can find figures published by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) here.

Contracting COVID-19 after vaccination

The COVID-19 Infection Survey (CIS) is a household survey which refers to the number of current COVID-19 infections within the community population; community in this instance refers to private residential households and it excludes those in hospitals, care homes or other institutional settings.

We have recently published the following analysis on positivity post-vaccination, which analyses patterns in the numbers of participants in our survey testing positive after having received at least one dose of the vaccine.

We have not produced data on positivity post vaccination broken down by age group. To do this we would need to create bespoke analysis. Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, Public Authorities are not obligated to create information in order to respond to requests. We therefore consider this to be information not held.

NHS Digital may also be able to help further with this query. They can be contacted via email at enquiries@nhsdigital.nhs.uk, and by telephone at 0300 303 5678.

Long COVID-19 analysis

This is our latest release on Prevalence of ongoing symptoms following coronavirus (COVID-19) infection in the UK: 4 June 2021which uses the ONS Infection Survey analysis data and looks at self-reported Long COVID symptoms.

For medically diagnosed long COVID, this data is held by NHS Digital, so they may be better placed to answer your query. They can be contacted via email at enquiries@nhsdigital.nhs.uk, and by telephone at 0300 303 5678.
