Please can you tell me how much public money has been spent in buying Census merchandise such as hoodies, mugs, pens, bags, posters, stickers, masks etc that have been distributed to all members of ONS staff in relation to the 2021 Census?

Can you also tell me how much has been paid in postage to all members of staff for the distribution of the census merchandise and what is the rational behind why this was necessary considering we are all working from home, not travelling unless it is an essential journey?

Thank you for your request.

Office for National Statistics staff were provided with a toolkit to help them promote the census, containing key messages to share, low-value stationery and promotional items including a pen, a sticker, a notepad, a poster and a face mask. 7,100 packs were produced at a cost £7.15 per person, including £1.60 postage.
