You asked

Please could you provide me with the comparable statistics of conceptions for over 18's, from 2007 to the latest date available for England and Wales broken down by county and ideally for West Cheshire and Chester.

Thank you for your request.

Conceptions statistics combine information from registrations of births and notifications of legal abortions occurring in England and Wales for women who are usually resident there. They include pregnancies that result in one or more live or stillbirths and legal abortions under the Abortion Act 1967. They do not include miscarriages or illegal abortions.

The number of conceptions to women aged 18 and over from 2009-2016 can be derived from information in the 2016 downloadable dataset here:

https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/birthsdeathsandmarriages/conceptionandfertilityrates/datasets/conceptionstatisticsenglandandwalesreferencetables

Table 5 of the 2016 downloadable dataset provides the total number of conceptions for counties in England and Wales (including West Cheshire & Chester) for 2009-2016. Table 6 of this dataset provides the same information but for the number of conceptions to under 18s. The number of conceptions for women aged 18 and over can determined by subtracting the respective figures in the two tables for each area.

The number of conceptions to women aged 18 and over for 2007 and 2008 can be derived from information in the 2007 and 2008 downloadable datasets in the same publication link above. Within each dataset, table 7 shows the total number of conception and conceptions to under 18S for counties in England and Wales. The number of conceptions to women aged 18 and over can again be derived by subtraction. Please note that for these two years, the statistics are presented for geographic boundaries which existed at the time, and do not reflect current geographic boundaries. Therefore, there is no comparable information for West Cheshire & Chester (which did not exist in 2007 and 2008); only information for Cheshire county is shown.

Conceptions statistics for 2017 have not been published yet and are expected to be available from February / March 2019.
