1. Who in the ONS is responsible for the correct categorisation of Urenco (Treasury Owned Portfolio Asset) re: Managing Public Money (MPM) Accountability, Re: Treasury Contingent Liability Loss.
We are responsible for the classification of institutional units and transactions, for the purposes of compiling economic statistics. Within ONS, classification cases which are not novel or contentious are made either by the Chair of ONS' Economic Statistics Classification Committee (ESCC), or are delegated to an ESCC member. The Director of Macroeconomic and Environment Statistics and Analysis is responsible for making novel or contentious classification decisions, based on a recommendation from the Chair of ESCC.
