From the 2021 census, are you able to provide the main languages (detailed) for all usual residents at a ward level for England and Wales?

Detailed main language information for wards is available from our create a custom dataset tool and can be downloaded via the following link: Main language (detailed) for all wards in England and Wales.
We also hold the Language, England and Wales: Census 2021 topic summary released on 29 November 2022, which includes 95 categories. Please note, this is only available down to Local Authority.
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has a legal obligation, under the Statistics and Registration Service Act 2007 and the General Data Protection Regulation May 2018, to protect confidentiality of census data.
Statistical disclosure control methods have been applied to ensure that statistical outputs provide as much value and utility as possible to users while protecting the confidentiality of information about individuals, households and organisations.
If you wish to obtain more detailed information on this topic, it may be possible to get the more detailed languages for some wards as a bespoke dataset, where disclosure control allows.
The 2021 commissioned table service began on 3 April 2023, but we do have a waiting list on production. Due to current workload, work on new requests is not expected to begin until September/October 2023. On receipt of your completed order form, you will be added to the waiting list.
