To clarify, I would like:
- A list of all countries where British citizens are resident
- For each country, the total number of British expatriates
- The reference date or period to which these figures pertain (e.g. census year or mid‑year estimate)
- If possible, please supply the data in a machine-readable format (such as CSV or Excel)

We do not routinely collect data on British citizens living overseas. However, in response to Brexit, we produced articles on British residents living in the EU: Living abroad: British residents living in the EU: April 2018. This provides the data we hold on this topic.
The Home Office has conducted research into emigration from the UK and may be better placed to provide further information.
