Please can you tell me the number of children registered with the first name of Faru each year over the last 100 years or as far back as you have data for.

We hold birth registration data, which include the name of the child, from 1993 onwards.
We routinely publish the number and rank of names given to baby boys and girls for births registered in England and Wales on our website. The most recent release of these data can be found in our Baby names in England and Wales: 2025 publication. In addition, we have recently published our Baby Names Explorer, which shows the top 100 names for baby boys and girls in England and Wales each year since 1996.
From a search of the baby name data time series tables we hold, we can confirm the name Faru does not appear. This means that between 1993 and 2024 there have been between zero and two registrations in each of those years. Our tables do not have counts of two individuals or fewer in total in England and Wales, as these are suppressed to protect the confidentiality of individuals. This is in line with our disclosure control methodology used for births.
Because of this, we are also unable to disclose this information in response to your FOI request. Section 39 of the Statistics and Registration Service Act 2007 (SRSA) renders the disclosure of information held by the Statistics Board for statistical purposes that would identify an individual or a body corporate an offence. As we are prohibited by law from publishing statistics in which individuals can be identified, s.44 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) applies.
