I am writing to you regarding a query on Average weekly household expenditure on ‘vehicle insurance including boat insurance’ from A11 (Detailed expenditure by age of Household reference Person) Family Spending 2022, FYE 2021.
It is unclear to us how the reported average is calculated. Specifically:
- Is the average computed across all households, including those without vehicles or boats?
- Or is it calculated only among households that have insurance, i.e., households that own vehicles or boats?
Additionally, I would appreciate any further information you have on average costs of motor insurance premiums that you may have used to arrive to your calculations that I may have missed.
