You asked
ONS pension wealth tables 6.10 provides information on average pension wealth for men and women (median across the population and for those with pension wealth).
Please would you be able to split this data by type of pension for the latest year - e.g. defined contribution and defined benefit? It would be useful to have data on the gender pensions gap for those with defined benefit and defined contribution pensions.
Alternatively you could split table 6.8 by gender as this table already splits the data by DC/DB.
Could you also explain why the figures are lower on table 6.8 compared to 6.10.

Thank you for your request (with reference to table 6.10 of Household total wealth in Great Britain) into a split of median pension wealth by men/women in addition to Defined Contribution (DC)/Defined Benefit (DB) for the most recent available year of data.
These wealth statistics are based on data from the Wealth and Assets Survey (WAS), most recently published for the period April 2020 to March 2022.
The requested information can be produced as bespoke analysis requiring specialist statistical skill, and is likely to be chargeable in line with our charging policy. As this information is reasonably accessible via another route, Section 21 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) applies. For any queries regarding bespoke analysis for the WAS and an estimate of the cost to produce it, please contact wealth.and.assets.survey@ons.gov.uk.
We also provide the latest WAS microdata under End User Licence (EUL) via the UK Data Service (UKDS) which can be accessed here: EUL WAS Data. Again, please email wealth.and.assets.survey@ons.gov.uk if you'd like further information on using the dataset and restrictions around commercial use.
Regarding your query on the reason for differences between figures in table 6.8 and 6.10, the table 6.8 figures exclude pensions in payment whereas table 6.10 figures include pensions in payment.
