Average age of a COVID-19 related death in the UK

Please supply the average age of COVID-19-related deaths within the UK from 01/01/2021 until 31/08/2021.

Thank you for your enquiry requesting the average age of a COVID-19 related deaths in the UK.

We are responsible for the provision of mortality statistics for England and Wales. National Records Scotland (NRS) and the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) are responsible for statistics pertaining to Scotland and Northern Ireland. Therefore, we do not hold the requested data for the whole of the UK. Should you wish to obtain this data from NRS and NISRA, they can be contacted at foi@nrscotland.gov.uk and info@nisra.gov.uk respectively.

For England and Wales, we have recently published Average age of death (median and mean) of persons whose death was due to COVID-19 or involved COVID-19, by sex, deaths registered in March 2020 to August 2021, England and Wales which provides Average age of death (median and mean) of persons whose death was due to COVID-19 or involved COVID-19, by sex, deaths registered in March 2020 to August 2021 and 18-month total, England and Wales.
