Thank you for your request for counts of arrivals and departures by year since 2020.
Unfortunately, we do not hold information on counts of "arrivals and departures" covering all travel. We produce estimates of long-term international migration, which measure the number of people arriving in and departing from the UK for periods of 12 months or more.
Our latest available estimates of Long-term international immigration, emigration and net migration flows dataset was published on 21 May 2026.
Estimates for UK immigration, emigration and net migration, year ending June 2012 to year ending December 2025, are official statistics in development. To access the most up-to-date data for each time period, please use the most recently published dataset.
In addition to long-term international migration estimates, we also publish data on visits to and from the UK through our Travel trends articles. These data provide information on short-term travel movements, including tourism and business trips, and may be helpful if you are interested in broader travel patterns rather than long-term migration.

You can use the 2024 edition and the 2019 to 2023 edition of the Travel trends articles to access these data.
Please note that data collection was affected by the coronavirus (COVID‑19) pandemic. In particular, the 2019 to 2023 edition includes a cover sheet explaining how data were collected between 2020 and 2022, when normal survey operations were disrupted. This should be considered when making comparisons across years.
