I would like to reference Social Trends from 1997 (I believe it is volume 27) in my PhD thesis.

I had previously downloaded the information I needed from the statistics.gov.uk website, but the links are no longer working (e.g. http://www.statistics.gov.uk/STATBASE/Product.asp?vlnk=3898&More=Y)

I have searched online, but can only find volumes going back to 2000.

Please can you advise whether this information is still accessible online - or how it could be accessed otherwise?

The link to the ONS library catalogue is here (it is available on the ONS website under the heading About ONS/Services)

If you then search for
Social Trends

and change the search field to
Journal Title

then the record will appear on the screen.

Click on Details and then follow the link that says: "Electronic access Click here to view electronic copies from 1990-1998 (scanned from paper originals)"

PDFs of the archived issues can then be viewed, though you may need to enable pop-ups if they don't open.
