You asked

Please supply the annual figures for 2020 showing the number of people who suffered a heart attack in each of the 2 categories:-

1 - Those vaccinated.

2 - Those unvaccinated.

ONS are responsible for the production of mortality statistics for England and Wales.

Unfortunately, we do not hold data for the number of heart attacks suffered by vaccination status. NHS Digital may be better placed to answer your query. They can be contacted via email at enquiries@nhsdigital.nhs.uk, and by telephone at 0300 303 5678.

The NOMIS webservice provides the number of deaths due to heart attack (Myocardial infarction) for 2013 to 2020.          

  • Select the geography (England and Wales, regional or by local authority).  
  • Select Age – All ages or 5-year age bands.  
  • Select Gender – Total or Male/Female  
  • Select rates – All deaths, rates or percentage of population for example.  
  • Select cause of death (ICD10 code search is available).  The ICD10 code is
  • Select format (Excel or CSV for example)

We do not hold analysis showing deaths involving myocardial infarction by vaccination status registered in 2020. In order to fulfil this request, we would need to undertake complex data linkage of mortality data and NIMS data and use a high level of statistical skill and judgement in order to create a bespoke analysis or table. Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, Public Authorities are not obligated to create information in order to respond to requests.
