You asked

On 5th February 2020 you published an easy to understand table at Deaths in the UK from 1990 to 2020 - Office for National Statistics (ons.gov.uk) Has this been updated since? If not, would it be possible to obtain a table of the yearly death rates each year in the UK, adjusted exactly as the previous table, but extended by the last 2 years, thus covering the years 1990 up until the end of December 2022?

Thank you for your request.

We are responsible for the production of mortality data for England and Wales, driven by information collected from the death certificate at death registration. National Records Scotland (NRS) and Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) are responsible for statistics pertaining to Scotland and Northern Ireland.

In collaboration with these organisations, we publish annual headline data as part of our Vital statistics in the UK: births, deaths and marriages. The latest data available is 2021, 2022 data is due to be published in December 2023.

For data relating to England and Wales only, we have published summary figures of deaths registered in England and Wales 2022 as part of the Deaths registered summary statistics, England and Wales.

If you have any questions about this data, please contact Health.Data@ons.gov.uk.

For Scottish or Northern Irish data for 2022, we would recommend contacting NRS and NISRA directly at foi@nrscotland.gov.uk and info@nisra.gov.uk respectively.
