You asked

Please supply what age people have died due to COVID-19 for the whole period in the UK.

Please supply a table according to age of deaths:

  1. Age 75 plus
  2. Age from 65 to 70
  3. Age from 60 to 65
  4. Age from 55 to 60
  5. Age from 50 to 55
  6. Age from 45 to 50
  7. Age from 40 to 45
  8. Age from 35 to 40
  9. Age from 30 to 35
  10. Age from 20 to 30

We only hold mortality data for England and Wales.  However, we have collaborated with the constituent countries of the UK to produce headline COVID-19 mortality figures. These figures are available in our latest provisional weekly death registrations. You can access the table directly, here.  

Our weekly deaths publication includes numbers of deaths involving COVID-19 in the UK, for broad age groups (01-14; 15-44; 45-64; 65-74; 75-84; 85+). Numbers of deaths due to COVID-19 and/or numbers of deaths involving COVID-19 by five-year age group, for the UK as a whole, are not held by ONS. You would need to contact National Records of Scotland and Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Centre for information for Scotland and Northern Ireland.

We publish deaths 'due to' COVID-19 (where it was recorded as the underlying cause of death) and deaths 'involving' COVID-19 (where it was mentioned anywhere on the death certificate).

Numbers of deaths due to COVID-19 for England and Wales 2021, are not currently published by five-year age group and at present we are unable to provide this as a bespoke tabulation because data are provisional and subject to change. Data for 2021 will be available on request after death registrations for this year are finalised and published in July 2022.
