Thank you for your request.

We are responsible for the production of data for England and Wales, driven by information collected from the death certificate at death registration. National Records Scotland (NRS) and Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) are responsible for statistics pertaining to Scotland and Northern Ireland. They can be contacted at  foi@nrscotland.gov.uk  and  info@nisra.gov.uk  respectively.

Please see the following link to analysis showing deaths involving COVID-19 and all cause deaths by vaccination status that occurred between 1 January and 31 October 2021 in England: Deaths involving COVID-19 by vaccination status, England. The data are for England only, as vaccinations data for Wales is not yet available to be linked to the mortality dataset and the PHDA covers England only. We use 21 days after the vaccine has been administered, as this is when the vaccine is deemed effective. Please note, these deaths are not attributed to the COVID-19 vaccination. This publication shows all cause and COVID-19 deaths by vaccination status. An age breakdown of this data is available in Table 5 of the dataset.

Unfortunately, we do not hold information showing a breakdown of deaths by sex and brand of vaccination, or at 30 days and 120 days after vaccination. To fulfil this request, we would need use a high level of statistical skill including complex data linkage and analysis of the mortality data and vaccinations data from the National Immunisation Management System (NIMS) to the 2011 Census and GP register to create information. Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, Public Authorities are not obligated to create information to respond to requests. This is therefore not held.

We do report deaths attributed to adverse reaction to the COVID-19 vaccination monthly in our Monthly Mortality Analysis. The latest data available is November 2021. December data will be released on 21 January 2022. There are currently 13 deaths registered in England and Wales with the aligning ICD codes for this, 9 of these deaths have ICD10 U12.9 as the underlying cause. However, please note that these are deaths across all age groups since the rollout of the vaccination in December 2020 and there are no deaths registered under the age of 35.

We do not hold blood type or brand of vaccination data, as this is not recorded on the death certificate at the point of death registration. We also do not hold data regarding adverse reactions to the COVID-19 vaccination that do not result in death.
