Thank you for your Freedom of Information request regarding the number of 70-100 year olds alive in the UK.
In mid-2020 there was an estimated number of 9,138,134 persons aged 70 to 99.
This is taken from the following publications:
In mid-2020 there were 8,543,754 70-89 year olds which can be found in our Mid-year population estimates of the population for the UK publication.
In mid-2020 there were 594,380 90-99 year olds which can be found in our Mid-year population estimates of the very old, including centenarians: UK publication.
The mid-2021 data for both datasets are provisionally due for publication in September 2022.
