Annual estimates of paid hours worked and earnings for UK employees by sex, and full-time and part-time, by region and two-digit Standard Occupational Classification 2010. Hourly and weekly estimates are provided for the pay period that included a specified date in April. They relate to employees on adult rates of pay, whose earnings for the survey pay period were not affected by absence. Estimates for 2020 and 2021 include employees who have been furloughed under the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS). Estimates of greenhouse gas emissions in 2013, for which UK residents and UK-based businesses are directly responsible (whether in the UK or overseas). These estimates have been produced on a consistent basis with the UK's national accounts and provide an important indicator for the environmental pressure caused by the UK's economic activities. Main findings show that greenhouse gas emissions in 2013 were estimated to be 2% lower than in 2012, and 23.6% lower than in 1990.

We analyse the characteristics of those living alone within the household population aged 16 and over, and the broader usually resident population. Characteristics analysed include age and sex, housing, qualifications and ethnicity. Geographical variations of those living alone are also highlighted. In 2011, 13% of the total usually resident household population of England and Wales were living alone. This is similar to the overall proportion of those living alone within the European Economic Area (EEA) at 14%.

We take a look at older people aged 65 and over in England and Wales. Analysis includes marital status, living arrangements, housing tenure, economic activity and general health and provision of unpaid care. In 2011, 9.2 million residents were aged 65 and over, an increase of almost 1 million from 2001 with 8.3 million. Results show that just 50% of those aged over 65 reported their health to be “very good” or “good”, compared with 88% of the rest of the population.

An analysis of unpaid care throughout England and Wales, and how this varied by age, sex, general health status and economic activity. The provision of unpaid care has increased since 2001 and projections suggest the demand for such care will more than double over the next 30 years. In 2011, females were more likely to be unpaid carers than males. It has also been found that the general health of unpaid carers deteriorated incrementally with increasing levels of unpaid care provided, up to the age of 65.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) does not currently produce annual statistics by local authority on the population by ethnic group and the last official statistics were from the 2011 Census. This feasibility research combines ethnicity data from English School Census, Hospital Episode Statistics and Improving Access to Psychological Therapies to explore whether administrative data can be used to produce statistics on the population by ethnic group for 2016 at national and local authority level for England, by five-year age group and sex. These research outputs are not official statistics.
