This is the first analysis to examine differences in healthy life expectancy (HLE) and how these compare across England. HLE adds value to life expectancy (LE) by estimating the average lifespan spent in a favourable state of health, based on self-assessed general health. The areas with the highest HLE were clustered to the south and west of London, whereas the areas with the lowest HLE were found in the North, the Midlands and some ethnically diverse parts of East London.

The statistics in this release are a new presentation of the data released as part of the Key Statistics and Quick Statistics for output areas in England and Wales that were published 30 January 2013. They provide new best fit aggregations of these statistics for health administration areas and postcode sectors in England and Wales, and also for National Assembly for Wales constituencies and Assembly for Wales electoral regions.

An overview of short-term residents (STRs) in England and Wales who were born outside of the UK and who intend to stay in the UK for a period of between 3 and 12 months. Using 2011 Census data we look at age, sex and economic activity at national, regional and local levels. Main findings show that there were 195,000 short-term residents in England and Wales with 70% of this group aged 15 to 29 years.

Using 2011 Census data, we look at international migrants in England and Wales. Analysis by country of birth and passports held are reported at national, regional and local levels. Main findings show an increase in the number of residents who were born outside the UK, with 13% of residents born outside the UK in 2011, compared with just 9% in 2001. The most common non-UK countries of birth in 2011 were India, Poland and Pakistan.

Ad hoc tables to accompany our article on impacts of energy price rises on businesses. These weighted tables are a series of crosstables between the Business Insights and Conditions Survey (BICS) question "Has your business been affected by recent increases in energy prices?" and the question specified at the top of each data tab. These results were not published in the weighted BICS Wave 65-67 results.
