The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has been facing the challenge of falling response rates for household surveys, as have other comparable countries. This issue became more acute in the Labour Force Survey (LFS) data collected for August 2023 and we temporarily suspended our LFS publications in October 2023.

While we have reintroduced some of our LFS publications from February 2024 we are continuing to review the options for producing LFS household estimates.

We will provide an update on future LFS workless household publications as soon as possible.
