Winter mortality in England and Wales: 2022 to 2023 (provisional) and 2021 to 2022 (final)
This national statistic is currently being consulted on as part of the wider cross government consultation on health and social care statistical outputs. The consultation runs until 23.59pm on 5 March 2024 and will report findings and recommendations in summer 2024. We have therefore paused this publication until the outcome of the consultation is known.
Crynodeb
Winter mortality compares the number of deaths that occurred in the winter period (December to March) with the average of the non-winter periods (the preceding August to November and following April to July). We present data by sex, age, cause of death, region and place of death.
