Trends in period life expectancy, a measure of the average number of years people will live beyond their current age, analysed by age and sex for the UK and its constituent countries. This release will include National life tables for the UK for 2019 to 2021 and for 2020 to 2022.

    Mortality rates (qx) values from the national life tables release, presented in time series format. These statistics are for England and Wales only. Updated figures for the UK will be published when the data are available. Previous figures for the UK are available in the previous versions of this dataset.

    Period life expectancy (ex) values from the national life tables release, presented in time series format. These statistics are for England and Wales only.   • Single year life tables, UK and constituent countries

    Period life expectancy by age and sex for 1980 to 2022 for England, Wales (and combined), Scotland, Northern Ireland, Great Britain and the UK. Each life table is based on population estimates, births and deaths for a single year.

  • National life tables: UK

    Period life expectancy by age and sex for the UK. Each national life table is based on population estimates, births and deaths for a period of three consecutive years. Tables are published annually.

  • National life tables: England and Wales

    Period life expectancy by age and sex for England and Wales. Each national life table is based on population estimates, births and deaths for a period of three consecutive years. Tables are published annually.

  • National life tables: Scotland

    Period life expectancy by age and sex for Scotland. Each national life table is based on population estimates, births and deaths for a period of three consecutive years. Tables are published annually.

  • National life tables: England

    Period life expectancy by age and sex for England. Each national life table is based on population estimates, births and deaths for a period of three consecutive years. Tables are published annually.
