An explainer of UK government expenditure

This article provides an overview of UK government expenditure using the ONS’ published public sector finances data, to complement the monthly PSF bulletin. It will focus on expenditure trends over the last c. 30 years, including the split between current and capital expenditure, and the classification of expenditure by government function (COFOG).
