Set ddata House price (existing dwellings) to residence-based earnings ratio

Correction

10 October 2025

We have corrected an error in the lower quartile house prices (tables 2a, 4a and 6a) and the lower quartile affordability ratios (tables 2c, 4c and 6c). The previous version contained estimates for all dwellings, having been swapped with the estimates for existing dwellings. A further error occurred in 4a and 4c giving incorrect estimates at the county level.

This happened because of human error, which was not detected at the time.

This error was first announced on 2nd October.

About this Dataset

Affordability ratios calculated by dividing house prices for existing dwellings, by gross annual residence-based earnings. Based on the median and lower quartiles of both house prices and earnings in England and Wales.
