Set ddata Services producer price inflation

The data found in versions of this dataset released between November 2020 and February 2025 are incorrect. This is because of an error identified with the chain-linking methods used to calculate Producer Price Indices (PPI) and Services Producer Price Indices (SPPI) since November 2020. 

On 21 March 2025, we announced a pause to the PPI and SPPI, because of an error identified with the chain-linking methods used to calculate these indices. 

We also requested that the Office for Statistics Regulation (OSR) accreditation of the PPI statistics be temporarily removed from all releases dating back to November 2020, when this annual chain-linking was first introduced.

We restarted the publication of PPI and SPPI on 22 October 2025 following a period of reviewing, correcting and quality assuring the index weights and chain-linking methodology. This is described fully in our Impact of correction to chain-linking methodology article, which was published on the same day. 

The format of the datasets published alongside the statistical bulletin has been changed following feedback from the 2024 user engagement exercise. The new format has been implemented for both PPI and SPPI. This dataset will no longer be updated, please refer to the new datasets, or contact business.prices@ons.gov.uk if you have any queries.
