Average house price in South Lanarkshire was £170,000 in June 2024

The provisional average house price in South Lanarkshire in June 2024 was £170,000. This was higher than the average of £162,000 in June 2023 (revised), a 4.6% rise.

Across Scotland, the average house price in June 2024 was £192,000, which was more than a year earlier (£185,000).

Across Great Britain, a home sold for an average of £291,000 in June 2024, which was up from the June 2023 average of £283,000.

In the year to June 2024, the average price for detached properties in South Lanarkshire rose by 8.0%, while the average price for flats stayed around the same over the year.

For each property type, average prices as of June 2024 in South Lanarkshire were:

• Detached properties: £333,000
• Semi-detached properties: £195,000
• Terraced properties: £139,000
• Flats and maisonettes: £97,000

Average private rents rose in South Lanarkshire

South Lanarkshire is in the broad rental market area of South Lanarkshire.

The provisional average price paid by first-time buyers was £133,000 in June 2024. This was higher than the revised June 2023 average of £128,000.

In comparison, home-movers in South Lanarkshire paid an average of £208,000 in June 2024. This was higher than £197,000 a year earlier.

In June 2024, the average price was £232,000 in Scotland and £333,000 in Great Britain.

Average house price for mortgage buyers rose in South Lanarkshire

The average price of a home bought with a mortgage in South Lanarkshire was £180,000 in June 2024 (provisional). This was higher than an average of £171,000 in June 2023 (revised).

Across Scotland, the average price of a home bought with a mortgage was £201,000, up from £191,000 a year earlier.

Across Great Britain, the average price for buying with a mortage in June 2024 was £300,000, which was up from an average of £291,000 in June 2023.
