Please provide a comparison of the number of deaths and infections from the CoViD-19 outbreak with the last serious Flu outbreak of 2017/2018, with comparison graphs of Infections and Deaths overtime (the curve as it were), a comparison graph over time of the outbreak, and how these compare to the 5 year average, which seems to be the standard model?

The number of COVID-19 and flu related deaths for 2020 compared to the five year average is available in the provisional weekly deaths publication Figure 1: The number of deaths involving COVID-19 decreased for the ninth consecutive week.

Data regarding the number of deaths from flu for the 2017/18 period can be obtained from our NOMIS service.  Flu can be identified using the ICD-10 codes J09-J11. These figures can be compared to the data in the publication above for you to compare.

Unfortunately, we do not hold data for flu incidence. Therefore, we would be unable to provide the comparison of infection data requested. Public Health England may be better placed to answer this element of your request.
