You asked

Can you please give me the breakdown provision of unpaid care by single year and also by borough from the 2011 census? Or if this is too specific can I get it by local authority and the following ages brackets?

0-5 (infants)

06-10 (juniors)

11-16 (secondary school)

17-18 ( college)

19-24 (young adult carers)

Thank you for your Freedom of Information (FOI) request regarding unpaid care by single age, or age groups and borough from the 2011 Census. Unfortunately, we do not hold a table with the specific data you have requested. This information would need to be created for you, and therefore falls outside of the Freedom of Information regime.

In census terms our classification of unpaid carers starts at the age of 4 years, as we consider that people under the age of 4 years are unable to provide care for others.

However, we do have a specially commissioned table available published on our website: CT0224. This provides unpaid care data for merged local authority geography by age groups for all usual residents in households. Please note that counts for people living in communal establishments are therefore not included.

It may be possible for you to commission a table, subject to disclosure rules and legal frameworks, for your chosen age groups by local authority. If you would like to obtain an estimate of costs and delivery dates please contact census.customer.services@ons.gov.uk
