The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has successfully implemented the first complete Oracle Cloud suite in central government. The system, which is used to manage the HR and finance functions, is expected to deliver over £1m of efficiencies for ONS by 2019 to 2020.

The Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Human Capital Management (HCM) Cloud Application was implemented in partnership with contractor Certus Solutions.

ONS Director of Finance, Paul Layland, said: “As part of our wider transformation programme, this technology means we enhance our service, moving away from an outdated system to cloud-based technology which will continue to improve over time.

“We have been able to share our knowledge and experience to support other government departments as they use our platform to continue driving efficiencies and demonstrating value for money for the taxpayer.”

The ONS corporate strategy 2015 to 2020 explains why ONS is becoming ever more efficient and innovative. Our aim is to produce world-leading statistics, analysis and advice to help Britain make better decisions.
