Interpretation

Travel time to libraries analysis was performed in collaboration with Ordnance Survey (OS). This analysis contains the locations of 3,159 static public libraries from the Arts Council for England dataset, accurate to May 2024. This analysis does not include mobile and other libraries that are not routinely open to the public or those that are open for less than 2 hours a week.

Analysis parameters, including walking speed of 4.8 kilometres per hour, closely follow those of the Department for Transport Journey Time Statistics (2019).

Please see the 'More quality and methodology information' section of the publication for further details.
