We estimate unemployment rates for local areas using model-based estimates based on information from the Annual Population Survey and the Claimant Count, on a 12 month basis. These statistics are produced once every 3 months and are the only unemployment estimates produced for local areas. Therefore, monthly unemployment rates for Cardiff are not available.
On 12 April we published the next estimates relating to the period January to December 2016. For people resident in Cardiff for the 12 month period January to December 2016, the estimated unemployment level was 9,300, with an unemployment rate of 5.2%.
