You asked

Could you supply me the number of drug related deaths registered between 2012 and 2016 in England and Wales where nitrous oxide was mentioned on the death certificate?

Also, if you have it, could you supply the number of hospital admissions where taking nitrous oxide was the reason or contributory factor for the admission, between 2012 and 2016.

We said

Thank you for your query regarding drug related deaths involving nitrous oxide.

The figures you require are available on the ONS website for the time period 1993 to 2015:

https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/birthsdeathsandmarriages/deaths/adhocs/006818drugrelateddeathsinvolvingnitrousoxide1993to2015

Figures for 2016 are not yet available, but can be requested after the publication of the 'Deaths related to drug poisoning in England and Wales' statistical bulletin in September 2017.

If these tables do not meet your requirements special extracts and tabulations of mortality data for England and Wales are available to order (subject to legal frameworks, disclosure control, resources and agreements of costs, where appropriate). Such enquiries should be made to: mortality@ons.gov.uk. We recommend that you contact the Mortality Analysis team directly in order to discuss your data requirements in more detail.

We do not hold information regarding hospital admissions. It may be worth contacting NHS Digital to see if they hold any relevant information.
