You asked

I would like to obtain any statistics relating to the use/ownership of mobile phones in the UK from 2010-present.

Ideally how many people owned a phone in 2010 and how many people own one now.

Thank you for your email requesting information in relation to statistics on use/ownership of mobile phones in the UK from 2010 to present..

We collect a range of UK expenditure data in the Living Costs and Food (LCF) survey which is a voluntary survey with round 5,000 responding households. The results of this survey are reproduced every year in Family Spending, which was published as a statistical bulletin for the first time on 16th February 2017. Results presented in this bulletin cover the financial year from 1st April 2015 to 31st March 2016. The move to a financial year was a result of user demand.

The tables that show mobile phone use/ownership are:

Table A45 Percentage of households with durable goods, UK, 1970- 2016.

Table A46 Percentage of households with durable goods by income group and household composition, UK, financial year ending 2016.

Table A48 Percentage of households with durable goods by countries and regions, UK. Financial year ending 2014 to financial year ending 2016;

Family Spending 2015-16 financial year

The equivalent tables for the years prior to 2015 can be located at the National Archives;
